Patio Layout Ideas - Design & Colour Schemes

Posted by The Organic & Natural Paint Co. on 6th Apr 2014

If you’ve got a patio or deck in your garden, it’s probably not getting as much use as it could! In order to turn it into an oasis, you may need to add some new elements or think outside the box with your current pieces. Many people have some deck chairs, a table, maybe a grill or stand-alone fire pit - all great items that will be the focal points of your new patio layout. However, they may not form a cohesive unit if they are all different colours and styles.

So the first thing you’ll want to do is decide on a colour scheme. Whether you’d like to have a summery set of all white furniture or you’d like to pull in some bright tropical colours, it can easily be achieved with an organicall-natural paint that is non-toxic to the environment it will be in. Some Eco-friendly exterior paints are even perspiration proof, so they’re perfect for refurbishing your sunbathing chair! Make or purchase a few matching throw pillows to pull in some colour and tie together your deck furniture and you’ve got a completed colour scheme.

If your patio or deck is a typical square or rectangle, you’ll want to place your large items such as porch swings or grills around the perimeter. Plant a couple of large pots with bright, seasonal flowers and use them at the corners or as dividers to create different “rooms” on your garden patio. If your terrace is looking a bit faded and dry, give it an instant facelift with an all-natural, easily applied product such as a Natural Terrace Oil. Oils like these revitalise the wood and protect it from future fading and peeling. Once your wood is looking brand new again, it will make a huge difference in the overall feel of your garden. Now all you’ve got to do is sit back, relax and enjoy!
